First I would just like to thank the kindly person who left a comment in my comment box but forgot to kindly leave their name. Perhaps next time, if you, my dear reader, are to make a comment on my logic/morals/ideas/what-have-you, be bold enough to leave your name. Cowardice is not my style.
On a completely different note:
I am still as stoked about Pope Benedict as if it were the first day! He's really a great man. We had a huge poster of him in our newspaper yesterday and on the backside the newspaper printed the names and pictures of all the vocations from the archdiocese (many of whom I know or am good friends with). Yay! It's really very exciting.
And regarding Pope Benedict XVI, I have one thing to say:
Truth is Truth is Truth is Truth is Truth...
You cannot jade that, regardless of whether you swing to the left or right on the liberal/conservative Catholic "pendulum". There is not "Truth for liberals" and "Truth for conservatives". There is only Truth. So please, my friends, stick with Truth. I'm getting quite annoyed by the propositions and ideas which seem to suggest that the Church is a subjective democracy. The Pope cannot change the Truth - and he will not. He will defend it, and if it's up to me (which it is, this is my blog), I might add that he always has (as Cardinal) and will continue to be a great defender of the Faith which is built upon the Truth.
"And the greatest of these is love."
Pax et veritas, my friends.
I heart Truth.

i'm sorry, but i reserve the right to call myself 'anonymous' or anything else i please. similarly you have a right to label it cowardice or anything else YOU feel like. it's a free world (for most at least). and what's more you have a right to delete my posts- so go right ahead if you want to- doesn't bother me.
i would like to point out that in your reply you have not answered my point at all about the catholic christianity's hypocritical attitude towards condoms, abortion, stem cell research and so on. in fact if anything, your response about "truth, truth, truth" is scary, and shows how blindly dogmatic people can be- basically cease to even admit the possibility that there could be another point of view. it's no wonder the US is so deeply divided now. i am sorry for you, and hope you think in a more humanistic way some day. i know that such beliefs can never be transcended through discussions and so forth, so it is only perhaps some life-altering incidents that may make you think differently.
in view of the futility of discussion, i will not post to your blog again (i have no desire to cause you pain/annoyance) as i do not believe it can result in you assuming a more reasonable attitude.
have a happy life!

anonymous,
if you have no desire to cause me pain or annoyance, you would have never posted in the first place. i do not believe you.
and if you wanted to chat about the Catholic Church's teaching on the "hypocrisies" (as you call them) of abortion, contraception, stem cell research, and the like, I am totally open to that. if you would like to email, please let me know, and i'll make my email available to you. we could chat all you'd like.
i know enough to not be afraid of your attacks on my character. i am not a blind believer, but an educated and intellectual student who has studied these Truths and can defend them quite well. so please, anonymous, ask away. i will not turn this blog into a centre for personal attacks though, so i will not be giving you pleasure by allowing your comments to prevail. it is true that i could delete your comments, but i do not find that necessary. i respect your dignity as a person, and i would love to chat with you rather than ignore you. somehow, as a strong believer in the culture of life, that just comes naturally.
i will assume that you have shrunken into hiding should you not reply, because i do not believe that you are truly done with my website, but rather that you are testing me.
perhaps, if you truly are interested, and are not just making my life difficult, you could start with this:
evangelium vitae, by pope john paul ii.
you don't even have to buy a copy - you can read it on the vatican's website. www.vatican.va

ps- and i wish to add that i find what this character florian says morally repugnant. the catholic church is suffering a world-wide decline in its follower numbers because it is an outmoded, outdated tenet, living by principles that are not even remotely in keeping with the modern world, its developments and its problems (like AIDS). what you have said about condoms not preventing aids is utter nonsense, and medical evidence strongly disproves your dogmatic views. silly beliefs like abstinence is the best way forward are leading to millions of people suffering horrible, lingering deaths, and i guess you will never know about it unless something like that happens to you or to a loved one (not that i am wishing that upon you). your beliefs are unrealistic, NOT supported by empirical evidence and reek of severe dogma. at the same time there is tremendous hypocrisy in catholicism, as the article i've linked you to above shows- child sex abuse by your priests, strangely, is uncovered on an almost daily basis, and reveals how deeply flawed and twisted this religion is.
i am not saying that it is a lesser religion than any other- unlike you both, i am religiously tolerant, and believe that there are many versions of the truth, or at least many different paths to realising the truth, even if there is only one truth. there are no 'heathens' in my scheme of things. but what i do think is that catholicism needs to change tremendously in order to be a 21st-century religion, or else the well-documented decline in its worldwide followership is going to continue unabated. there is no denying numbers and what they imply.

pps- one more site at which you might expand your horizons: http://catholicsagainstthepope.blogspot.com/ . looks there are some even among your own people who realise what problems there are within catholicism today. enjoy reading!
