Polska! Polska! Polska!!
I'm watching this Hallmark Channel movie about JP2, and it's amazing. I'm so impressed that it has captured my attention for the past 2 and a half hours (no small task).
And it's making me love Poland (like I needed any help with that!). I'm getting more excited for Polish Fest this Sunday!! Maybe I'll go to St. Stanislaus Kostka's for Mass, then right to Polish Fest. Can't be the last one to join in on the polka dancing, pierogies and fun!!
And on a MUCH grander scale:
Happy Feast of the Assumption. :)
Today at work we had this one couple come in (it's the second time now), and I enjoy them so much. They're middle-aged, and when they came in last time, I assumed they were life-long Catholics. Then they started asking me questions, and I was a little confused, but not completely (their generation didn't really get catechized well...)...and then they were like "So, you are Catholic, right?" and I'm like "Yes." and they're like "Since birth?" and I'm like "Yes." and they're like "You are one on fire Catholic." and the woman says "I'm an on fire Protestant. And I respect that you're an on fire Catholic..." and I was kind of confused. Then she goes on to say that she and her husband were Presbyterian for years and were content with it, until recently when the Presbyterian Church started doing things they didn't agree with (they didn't go into detail, but I think we can all safely assume where they were coming from). She's like "So, we left. And gradually we started watching EWTN. And we found Marcus Grodi and The Journey Home and started learning about Scott Hahn. And now, we're going to be in RCIA this fall" :) God is so good. These two are the most inquisitive individuals...and that is exactly what brought them to Catholicism. They were not content with anything short of the Fullness of Truth. Hoorah! And, she bought her first Rosary! :) Yay God!!
So I'm back at Loras in...10 days. I cannot wait. I am so excited to see everyone and be back to where I most truly belong (at this stage in my life...don't get confused...I know where I truly belong!!).
Caritas et veritas.

Wow, I am very impressed. I'd like to be an apologist, but as far as face-to-face stuff goes, I always get flustered and end up making the Lord's case in a less than brilliant way.
About the Nashville Dominicans ... they are currently one of 2 religious communities I'm considering (the other being the Sr.Servants of the Eternal Word in B-ham) ... its a confusing time, because I thought for sure I was gonna be a Sr. Servant, but now I'm feeling this incredibly strong Dominican pull ... (plus if I could I'd like to be a teacher)
Lol, anyway, I'm moving to DC this weekend, to an apartment right down the street from Catholic University and the Dominican House of Studies. I spoke to Sr. Mary Emily on the phone, and she said they have Sisters out there, so I should try hanging out with them!

Sister Mary Emily?! She's my dear friend! I've known her for 2+ years now, and talk to her like, once a week. She's wonderful. Do not be afraid to ask her any questions...she's very good. And so holy...she always challenges me...but in a good way!
And yes, you most definitely should stop by the Dominican House of Studies and hang out with the Nashville sisters there. You cannot possibly go wrong. Dominicans are wonderful. And the teaching apostolate...I love it. I can't imagine an occupation more rewarding (at least, for myself...I guess I can't speak for all!). :)
Anyway, if you meet some of the sisters, do let me know which ones...and know that I am totally jealous of such a wonderful opportunity! I wish I lived nearby the Dominican House of Studies!! ;)

And as for the apologetics thing...it's one of those things that I don't realize what I'm saying, necessarily. I just (constantly) inform myself as well as I can, and allow the Holy Spirit to use what little I have. And every time I'm shocked at what I say. I'm always reminded of the prophets of old who protested God when He wanted them to preach because they felt inadequate. Somehow, He always provided them with what needed to be said. It's the same situation...I'm no prophet, but the God still works wonders! (Plus I do push myself a bit to not be shy about talking (when asked...), because my friends will very kindly remind me "Angela...Order. of. Preachers." and then I'm like "Oh...yes...right. Preaching." Haha. :)
