Yeah, well, I did a great job with posting more often last time I promised I would. Oops. I guess I got busy/didn't really have a whole lot to say, so I took a bit of a...well...sabattical.

Now it's Christmas break. And I'm to be student teaching in 10 days. Oh my gosh. AAH! I can't believe it's like, here. The semester went very fast. I am glad, though. One more class and I might've lost it.

Oh, yeah, happy new year, too. I really don't get into the whole new year thing. I don't really care. Just another day, to me. I rung in the new year last night with my friend Allison at Oscar's here in Rockford. It was fun. I had a great time with her. Now I just look forward to my birthday in two days. Yay for being 22!

And as for the change in the name of the blog, I provide these lyrics. They are the reason I changed it.

Holy Water
by Big and Rich

Somewhere there's a stolen halo
I used to watch her wear it well
Everything would shine like wherever she would go
But looking at her now you'd never tell

Someone ran away with her innocence
A memory she can't get out of her head
I can only imagine what she's feeling when she's praying
Kneeling at the edge of her bed

And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water

She wants someone to call her angel
Someone to put the light back in her eyes
She's looking through the faces
And unfamiliar places
She needs someone to hear her when she cries

And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water

She just needs a little help
To wash away the pain she's felt
She wants to feel the healing hands
Of someone who understands

And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water

And there they are.
Peace out.

Does that really say my last post was in September? Holy cow.

I guess I haven't had much to say (shocking, I know).

I'll try to post a little more often, though. It is, after all, November.

Random happenings of the night:
- me deciding that if I were from Walla Walla and I was a rapper and a basketball player, my stage name would be "Walla Walla Balla" because it's really fun to say out loud
- me and Victoria playing "Chutes and Ladders" after midnight, when we discovered we didn't have checkers (I had a mad impulsion to play checkers right then!)
- well, mostly just a lot of goofiness, and being-Angela-ness

I think I shall attempt sleep now.
I'm out.

Shoop Shoop Song

So I'm sitting waiting for class to start, having just listened to half an hour of reading out of a book about John Dewey in my previous class, and music starts playing.
It's the "Shoop Shoop Song" coming from my professor's computer. At first she seems alarmed, then...she turns it up louder, and starts dancing and mouthing the words.

Yes, yes that really happened.
In a college classroom.

Just another reason I love Loras College.

I am currently obsessed with Fiona Apple. Sure she's a vegan who fights for animal rights via PETA, and I'm as carnivorous as they come, but that doesn't make a difference. She makes damn good music. And I love it.

If you have time, find the music video to "Paper Bag" by Fiona - the choreography is outstanding. I seriously can't get enough.

And my theme song right now, via Fiona:
"A Mistake"
I'm gonna make a mistake
I'm gonna do it on purpose
I'm gonna waste my time
Cuz I'm full as a tick
And I'm scratching the surface
And what I find is mine
And when the day is done, and I look back
And the fact is I had fun, fumbling around
All the advice I shunned, and I ran
Where they told me not to run, but I sure
Had fun, so
I'm gonna (expletive deleted) it up again
I'm gonna do another detour
Unpave my path
And if you wanna make sense
Whatcha looking at me for
I'm no good at math
And when I find my way back,
The fact is I just may stay, or I may not
I've acquired quite a taste
For a well-made mistake
I wanna mistake, why can't I make a mistake?
I'm always doing what I think I should
Almost always doing everybody good
Why-
Do I wanna do right, of course but
Do I really wanna feel I'm forced to
Answer you, hell no
I've acquired quite a taste
For a well-made mistake, I wanna
Make a mistake, why can't I make a mistake
I'm always doing what I think I should
Almost always doing everybody good
Why-

Ah, I love this CD. Seriously, it's probably the 15th time through since I bought it last night. Maybe more.
It's ah-mazing.

So I'm sitting in my apartment, looking at some pretty sweet art on the internet, watching the Leonardo DiCaprio/Claire Danes version of Romeo and Juliet, and I hear music.
Not just any kind of music, but familiar music.
I stop, and listen.

Is that an...ice cream truck? In Dubuque??

So I look out the window.
Nothing.

I go out to the living room to see if the TV's on.
No.

I go to the door, and it gets louder.
And slowly, one by one, college students start peeking out their doors.
Looking, wondering, hoping.

And then, laughter.
Joy.
It IS an ice cream truck! Driving down a random street in Dubuque!

We laugh, we smile, and then slowly, as it passes, we return about our business.

Oh, ice cream trucks. You make me (and everyone else!) smile. :)
